(a) Yes, I am aware that tea factories in the greater Kisii are experiencing leaf collection and processing problems which are being addressed by the Ministry, KTDA and the factories. (b) Itumbe and Eberege factories will be operationalised as soon as they have been fully connected with electricity which has already been paid for by KTDA. (c) Currently, there is no compensation policy for leaf loss. However, my Ministry will consult stakeholders in the industry to develop one in order to alleviate losses incurred by tea farmers."
