    "content": "Madam Temporary Deputy Chairlady, I beg to move:- THAT, Clause 34 of the Bill be amended in paragraph (d) by deleting the words “and as may be prescribed by the Commission”. This relates to the clause that legislates how independent candidates are supposed to be handled and subsection (d) says: “The nominated candidate is selected in a manner provided for in this Constitution and as may be prescribed by the Commission.” I think giving so much power to the Commission to prescribe how independent candidates are selected is being high handedness and giving so much power to the Commission. I propose the deletion of the words “and as may be prescribed by the Commission”. I have already consulted the Chair and proposed that we have some further amendments to that."
