    "content": "Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir, it has been proven in the world that there are no side effects on genetically modified food. Contrary to the belief that the researchers inject some chemicals into July 12, 2006 PARLIAMENTARY DEBATES 2009 the crops during their research, they actually put chemicals in the soil. That is a fallacy. So, the genetically modified food is the right way forward. In any case, science does not stop there. After the genetically modified food, we will move on to something else. Science is continuous. If we, as a country, do not take up the challenge of genetically modified food today, by the time other countries will have moved to something else, we will be starting to embrace genetically modified food. We will be a decade or two behind other countries. So, this is the time. With those few remarks, I beg to oppose the Motion."
