"content": " Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, I beg to reply. (a) The Ministry of Health wishes to clarify that there is no organisation in this country going by the name Walter Reed International. But there is the Water Reed Project which has worked with the Kenya Medical Research Institute (KEMRI) for the last 25 years. The Ministry is aware that KEMRI and the Water Reed Project have been conducting research in Kericho and surrounding districts since 1998. The project operates under the umbrella and authority of KEMRI. (b) All research done by KEMRI and all its collaborators is approved by the relevant authorities in KEMRI as an institution charged with the mandate of undertaking medical research in this country. (c) The KEMRI is the custodian of the research that is done. I also want to clarify that during a meeting that was held in Kericho, hon. Bett was there, and these questions that he has asked were all answered and I was told that he was very happy with what we are doing."
