    "content": "Thank you, Mr. Speaker, Sir, for giving me this opportunity to speak on the Presidential Address on the opening of the Fifth Session of the Ninth Parliament. Mr. Speaker, Sir, this is a return back to the House after a very long break during which Kenyans went through something they had never experienced before in terms of the referendum that was held on the proposed new Constitution. Mr. Speaker, Sir, I wish to take this opportunity to thank the millions of Kenyans who participated in that referendum for the peaceful manner in which it was conducted, and also for the result. I must also acknowledge that numerous issues came to the fore during that time. Tensions were high as people crisscrossed the country campaigning for their different positions."
