"content": "Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir, hon. Odhiambo-Mabona talked about employing more oncologists. Cancer is one of the non-communicable diseases that I was talking about. In that category we also have diabetes and cardiovascular diseases. These diseases initially were seen to be diseases of affluence. In other words, they were diseases which were mainly prevalent in developed societies and not many in other societies. The situation has changed so rapidly that within a very short period of time, we now have a situation where diabetes, cancer and cardiovascular diseases are some of the biggest killers in our country. Quite a number of our institutions are now training oncologists. I know that they are few in number at the moment. But I am sure that over the next few years, we are going to have quite a number of oncologists who will be able to take care of our cancer patients."
