(a) Sparsely populated areas are those areas that have a population density that is equal to or less than the national average as determined under the Kenya National Housing and Population Census of 2009. The average population density of Kenya is 66 persons per square kilometre. (b) The areas that are designated as sparsely populated are as indicated in the list attached to the written answer.
