"content": "Madam Temporary Deputy Speaker, if there are people who work so hard in this country, it is the teachers. Surprisingly, the salary which they earn is not something to write home about. Just imagine a primary school teacher earning between Kshs7,000 and Kshs8,500. What can that money do? It is not enough for his transport. It cannot even cater for his needs and those of his family. It beats common sense to see some Ministries are allocated money, but at the end of the financial year, it is returned back to Treasury. Why can we not pay teachers well? They deserve a little better than what they are currently earning."
