    "content": "Mr. Temporary Deputy Chairman, Sir, this is very important because if you want profession of the accountants to self-regulate, you must also not emasculate its main body, which is ICPAK. The parallel for this is the Law Society of Kenya and so on. I have also looked at the registration elsewhere and it is actually the case, for instance, the Indian Chartered Accountants Act of India (1949). This is the equivalent of our ICPAK. It elects a sub-committee of the registration committee. But, here, the Minister has sought to separate them completely and not create any relationship. Therefore, the proposed amendment is seeking to make this registration committee a sub-committee of the Council to ensure that they work in harmony and they do not compete. I therefore, urge hon. Members to allow this amendment."
