"content": "(a)The tender for the construction of the ultra modern sports academy at the cost of Kshs1, 579,778,165 was advertised and awarded in accordance with the provisions of the Procurement and Disposal Act, 2005. The preliminary works which involved preparation of design have already commenced. (b)The Government is committed to spent Kshs140,142,494 in the financial year 2011/2012 and not Kshs400 million to rehabilitate and improve Mombasa Municipal Stadium, Kirigiti, Kipchoge Keino Stadia and Mogoma Community Sports Ground in Longisa alongside others throughout the country. The stadia in Nyanza, Eastern and North Eastern provinces have been earmarked for rehabilitation. In this regard, the following projects have been funded this financial year, 2011/2012, as follows:- In Nyanza there is the Kisumu Stadium, Kisumu Lawn Tennis Courts, Koseles Sports Grounds, Homa Bay Stadium and Migori Sports Ground. In Eastern it is, Embu Stadium, Makadara Sports Ground and Kitui Stadium. In North Eastern it is Modogashe Stadium and Mandera East Stadium. All the earmarked projects for improvement this financial have already commenced and it is anticipated that they will be completed by the end of the financial year."
