"content": "Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir, with regard to the issue of torture, many Members who have spoken before me have talked about it. It is telling to see that torture or cruel treatment to those who the police come across has been prohibited. It is important to pay attention to the provision that there is no way that you can qualify any amount or extent of torture, but I am happy to read it together with Clause 103 because we may want to say that we do not want people to be tortured, but it is important that we also protect the police from being tortured. In the recent past, we have seen members of the public taking it upon themselves and unleashing terror on police officers. That is not a very good thing to happen to us as a society. It is important that we also maintain some respect for the police officers. It is crucial to say that even as we prohibit police officers from using excessive force, the members of the public should also not torture police officers. With those many remarks, I beg to support."
