    "content": " Madam Temporary Deputy Chairlady, I would like to put this matter to rest and support all those who have opposed it. Let me read Article 85 of the Constitution on eligibility to stand as an independent candidate. It states that any person is eligible to stand as an independent candidate for election if the person: (a) Is not a member of a registered political party and has not been a member for at least three months immediately before the date of the election; and (b) satisfied the requirements of Article 99 and so on and Article 193 of the same Constitution. So, it is very clear what those articles are saying. What the hon. Member is saying is contrary to the Constitution."
