(a) Is the Minister aware that the Kenya National Union of Teachers (KNUT) has called for a Special National Executive Council (NEC) meeting on 19th August, 2012 and an Advisory Council meeting on 29thAugust, 2012, intent on calling for a teachers’ strike for lack of implementation of the provisions of Legal Notice No.531 of 1997? (b) What measures is the Minister taking to avert the planned strike? (c) What assurance is the Ministry giving to teachers on payment of allowances to guarantee smooth learning when schools re-open next term?"
