"content": "Rogo. Another message said; “All mosques should now be burnt down since churches have been burnt down.” That was on social media. I would like to urge this House that if we want to show the country and the world that what happened in Mombasa concerns us, in fact, Mr. Speaker, you should lead this Parliament to Mombasa to preach peace and tell Kenyans that the repeated messages we are seeing on BBC and other international media are wiping out our economy. Tourists are cancelling their visits to Kenya. We are hurting our neighbouring countries namely Uganda, Rwanda, Burundi and Congo which depend on Mombasa and Kenyans are losing lives and properties. Why? Because certain extremist elements are taking the law into their own hands and we are demonstrating our inability to cope with containing them. I want to urge, that in unison, we join the clerics from the Muslim fraternity and the Christian fraternity in condemning these acts in the strongest terms possible and urge our youth that the problems of this country of unemployment and poverty cannot be resolved by violence and extremist thinking and behaving. It can only be done by us working together to grow the economy of this country so that we generate wealth and eradicate poverty. Finally, I want to urge that the trail of explosive devices being tossed in Christian houses of worship is now looking like a pattern. I think every leader has a duty not only to condemn it but to assist in finding out why this is happening and who is doing it. I do not believe that these youth are acting instantaneously but I believe that there is a hidden hand somewhere inciting them to do what they are doing. We want to see the police not going for the youth per se, but to look for whoever is causing them to behave in the manner they are behaving because these are our youths. They cheer us when we go to rallies. They also sit with us. When they all of a sudden start burning cars, looting and killing our police officers who are there to keep peace, something is tragically wrong. We have lessons to learn from what is happening in Nigeria and what has happened in Indonesia."
