"content": "containing the situation. Where there is a militia, definitely, our police whose services are required across the country, are ill-prepared actually to handle that situation. I urge the hon. Members to understand this clearly and give our security forces confidence. This is because they have already shown their professionalism outside this country. Give them the confidence they need to be able to do the same in this country. Let us not dismiss and just say: “If we deploy them, they are going to A, B, C and D atrocities or whatever will be committed.” How much more do you expect our security forces or Army to commit really, if we have already lost over 100 people to militias? Surely, I think it is not a situation that we can continue talking about the police and start pointing accusing fingers at their failure. Yes, failure has taken place, but do we continue allowing our people to die, when some of our Kenya Defence Force (KDF) security apparatus are still in their barracks here? I think that it is very important that we understand and give opportunity at this time of reforms to our KDF to prove themselves that they can also equally measure up to the task and do a professional job inside the country. Madam Temporary Deputy Speaker, I have concern over utterances by some leadership. I am very much disappointed by the clergy. Yesterday, there were comments by sections of the clergy actually commenting that some senior personalities in this Government should be sacked; echoing the same sentiments expressed by the same people that we highly suspect are actually behind these atrocities that are taking place in that area. It is very unfortunate. We have been trying our best to contain sectarian violence in this country. We have gone out of our way, as leaders in this House, to ensure that any semblance of atrocity that takes place anywhere is not interpreted to be sectarian fighting in this country. But clearly, when some membership in this House and sections of the clergy come out in support of each other; saying that certain personalities in the country should be sacked, I think it is clear---"
