"content": " Mr. Speaker, Sir, I beg to reply. (a) On 14th April, 2012, at about 8.30 p.m. an unknown number of thugs, one believed to be armed with a knife raided the house of Rev. Benson Nandwa, located within Shibale ACK Parish Church compound. The gangsters strangled the reverend, stabbed him on the chest and left him unconscious after robbing him off an unknown amount of money and a mobile phone. Neighbours who heard the commotion rushed to the house and took him to St. Mary’s Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival. (b) The police visited the scene and commenced investigations immediately. A postmortem was later conducted and the cause of death was found to be strangulation and internal bleeding, as a result of the stab wound on the chest. Investigations commenced immediately and the police were able to track and arrest the following suspects. James Omondi Jacob, Gadi Okello Nelson, Kelvin Obonyo Murunga, David Oriende Ouma and Meshack Murunga Onyango. The deceased’s mobile phone was also recovered. The suspects have all been arraigned before Mumias Court vide Mumias Police Station Case File No.925/145/2012 and Court File No.494/2012 and charged with the offence of robbery with violence contrary to Section 296/2 of the Penal Code. (c) I am not aware that Rt. Rev. Beneah Salalah, the Bishop of the Anglican Church of Kenya (ACK), Diocese of Mumias is unable to occupy his house due to insecurity and threats to his life. However, the police have enhanced security in the whole of Mumias area and more so, around church premises to ensure that church leaders go about their duties without any fear of attacks."
