"content": "Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir, in the entire region, that is the upper North Rift, where this lake is situated is an epicentre of hunger, misery, poverty and people live around that lake in deep penury. People are extremely poor in that region. We should consider the environmental issue and the Government should deal with it by use of all the necessary force. I want us to consider the plight of those people – the Daasanach, the Rendille and the Elmollo. If you want to know the problems of the Elmollo people, just go to Loyangalani; just go close to Lake Turkana and you will get poor people who are really suffering; their livelihood depends on fishing. When this lake recedes by about ten metres, what will happen to their livelihood?"
