    "content": "Mr. Speaker, Sir, thank you for giving me this opportunity to join my colleagues in congratulating His Excellency the President, on his final Address to this House as he goes into a well deserved retirement. I had the privilege of serving in the Eighth Parliament when the President was the Leader of the Opposition. I was then aged 31 when I first came into this House. His Excellency the President, who was the Leader of the Opposition then, after the Presidential Address by the Former President, made the following comments. He said “Mr. Speaker, I wish to support this general statement that has been made by the President”. I was really angered. When everybody said it was a great statement of exposition of Government policy, as the Leader of the Opposition, even though recognizing that it was a statement made by the President, he had his opinion and he made it very clear. From that day, I have watched and although I have never had occasion to vote for His Excellency, I must say that I appreciate the exemplary performance that he has shown and demonstrated to this country."
