"content": "a lot of transformation under his watch, which is actually very encouraging. We are now enjoying the job that was done by the Speaker and we congratulate him and his entire staff. I know that he is a man of action and has really done it. Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir, secondly, allow me to congratulate and thank the people of Kasipul Kabondo who, indeed, elected me to the Tenth Parliament to serve them. I have done my best and we have actually achieved some work in that constituency. Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir, allow me also to thank the two Principals who showed some leadership in this country. If at all they had not erred, this country would not be the same today. I know that when we opened in 2008, things were haywire in this country and the two Principals came together, including the Vice-President and Minister for Home Affairs. They sat down and came up with a lasting solution for this country. Allow me to thank them so much for showing leadership. Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir, I want to say that I have been privileged to serve in a number of committees in this Tenth Parliament. I have served in the Departmental Committee on Health under the Chairmanship of Dr. Monda who has guided us well. We have done so much in the health sector. Allow me also to thank my other Chair, none other than Ms. Noor who has been Chairing the Departmental Committee on Labour and Social Welfare that has also unearthed so much in this Tenth Parliament. I have also served in the Local Authorities Funds Account Committee (LAFAC) as well as the Library Committee. I have really enjoyed serving in those Committees. We have traversed this country and we have come up with policies which I hope, if fully implemented, are likely to show a number of steps that will be taken for the benefit of this country. I also want it to be on record for the next Parliament: There is an unemployment rate in this country. The unemployment rate in this country is really rising up to almost 46 per cent or 50 per cent and it must come down. I have visited countries like Thailand. They have an unemployment rate of only 3 per cent. If Thailand attained its Independence almost at the same time as Kenya, why should Kenya have an unemployment rate of over 40 per cent while Thailand has 3 per cent? I wish that the next Government or Parliament would do so much in the creation of employment opportunities for our youth. Lastly, I want to emphasize accountability in this country. Corruption must be done away with in this country. We should account for every wealth that we create or spend. I wish all of my colleagues---"
