    "content": "Hon. Deputy Speaker, let me talk on behalf of the Kisii community. You know how populated we are, and the kind of services that women render. We are also talking about firewood. We need to change the way we cook our food. Firewood is no longer available yet every day the children and the man of the house want to eat. That bit was not taken care of but we need to think about how to get alternative sources of fuel for our women to continue cooking in our homes. Secondly, we are talking about sports and entertainment. Actually, most of these activities used to be there but they subsequently disappeared. So, I congratulate the President for his bold step towards rejuvenation of sporting activities in the country. As Parliament, we are going to give them the moral support that is required to ensure that all these things work. Even if the good things that the President talked about are going to be there, it will also depend on the kind of effort that we are going to put towards making sure that it works. Going back to women and youth issues, we are talking about enhancement of the Women Enterprise Development Fund and the Youth Enterprise Development Fund but there is also need to empower women and the youth for them to know where they are going to invest this money. There are many activities going on out there but when you try to evaluate what one has been doing, you realize that he has done nothing. So, empowerment of these two categories of people is necessary. There should be mechanisms of ensuring that women put the resources they borrow from the fund into proper use that will change their lives. Our cry is for the woman to be able to sustain herself and also have a voice in her homestead, so that when the husband comes home he can feel that he has a woman. So, empowering women is the only way through which what the President said can be achieved. We should empower women so that when they get the money, they can invest it in the right places.
