Hon. Ghat Dennitah, MP Hon. Speaker, Sir, this is a new committee which was not there in the Tenth Parliament. The business of this committee was previously done by the Whips of the various parliamentary political parties. However, in reviewing and reforming the Standing Orders, Parliament in its wisdom has seen that transparency, accountability and Article 10 that hon. Dalmas Otieno has stated will only be done fairly if a Committee of the House on Selection is formed in order to place hon. Members in their respective Committees based on the three principles of regional balance, gender parity, and diversity. This is a very important committee at the beginning of the House. Why do I say so? This is a committee that between now and, maybe the next sitting of the House, or between now and next Tuesday must place hon. Members in various committees."
