"content": "Hon. Deputy Speaker, at least, I am not one of the men conniving to deny women chairmanship. But even though these positions are elective, can we not have some affirmative action and decide? We have been having affirmative action in many seats. Why can we not have affirmative action as a House? This is something that probably would require the Speakerâs intervention that we have some specific committees to be chaired by women. If you allow us to go for elections, women are the minority. They are just 20 per cent. Even those committees, the women will be at most 30 per cent. Why can we not have affirmative action?"
