"content": "Hon. Deputy Speaker, our rule of engagement, as CORD, is that we need to be consulting on issues. We have held this country to ransom for far too long but today, we are moving forward. On the list we are debating, there are complaints from both sides of the political divide. Some hon. Members appear three times while others appear only once. Standing Order No.173 provides that no Member of Parliament should belong to more than two Departmental Committees but this rule has been violated across the political divide. Therefore, I suggest that we pass the Motion and bring amendments next week to correct these anomalies, so that hon. Members can support the leadership of this House. Let us be seen to be fair in our dealings. We, on the CORD side, will correct this anomaly because we had agreed that every Member of Parliament should belong to a Departmental Committee and a Select Committee. However, between then and the time when the list went for typing, it was changed. We do not know what happened. We do not want to accuse the leadership of the Jubilee Coalition for trying to short-change us because that may not be true. However, let us try to move forward. Tonight, I will sleep a happy man. We had made hon. Members suffer a lot just because of misunderstanding. One day, the Jubilee Coalition will be in the Opposition and the CORD Alliance will be the ruling party. It is important that whenever we discuss issues here, we stick to the agreed position. I am a son of a pastor although I never became a pastor myself. There is a man we read about in the Bible, who dug a hole for someone else to fall into. He was trying to hang someone but he got hanged instead. So, Jubilee Members of Parliament, as you remind us about tyranny of numbers, know that one day CORD will be sitting on that side of the House and tell you about the tyranny of numbers. Hon. Deputy Speaker, before I sit down, I want to say that we have also realised a trend. Since we are now talking as friends, we have to bring some things to the fore. We have realised that when some hon. Members of the Jubilee Coalition want to ask questions, they cross the Floor to our side. After they ask the questions, they cross back to their side. Therefore, I want to request our Jubilee colleagues to, kindly, give us our space. We may be few but we are organised. With those few remarks, I support."
