    "content": "coming to take our land. This is a very important and noble move by the Eleventh Parliament to ensure that it improves the economy of this country. One of the main economic activities which provide employment to people in ASAL areas is livestock. About 80 per cent of employment in the ASAL areas depends on livestock and if we could have insurance for that sector, it will cushion the farmers and the economy of this country will tremendously and remarkably improve. Hon. Speaker, Sir, the previous Governments did not assist the pastoralists. I hope the Jubilee Government will look into the ASAL area and be serious in helping the citizens of this country. The last regimes have been writing off the loans for coffee and sugar-cane farmers; but they have never written off loans for livestock farmers. With the establishment of insurance for livestock farmers, every Kenyan in the ASAL areas will benefit. I will urge my colleagues to support this Motion. With those few remarks, I support the Motion."
