Bowen urging the Government to liberalize the power distribution thereby breaking the monopoly of KPLC in order to encourage competition, improve efficiency, reduce the cost of power and to offer compensation to those who have encountered fires and loss of property due to power outages and surges. Without appearing to anticipate debate, hon. Members are already aware that we have scheduled a Motion for Adjournment of the House to a day other than the normal sitting day. Upon passing of the Motion, hon. Members will break off for the next 11 days and resume back on 4th June, 2013. That break gives the various Departmental Committees an opportunity to sit and scrutinize the proposed budget items and programmes of the Ministries and departments within their purview. Committees are, therefore, expected to finalize this exercise by the turn of the week and submit their reports to the Budget and Appropriations Committee for tabling in the House when we resume on Tuesday, 4th June, 2013.
