Speaker, Sir, when the Deputy President assumed the office of the former Prime Minister, he requested the Public Service Commission (PSC) for extension of contracts of staff members previously serving in that office, but whose terms had expired. The PSC’s communication in response to that request, on 5th June, 2013, extended the term of the officers to the end of this month. I want to make this matter very clear. Annex 6 is a request made by the Office of the Deputy President. The author of the letter is none other than Dr. Isahakia, the former Permanent Secretary in the Office of the Prime Minister. The Deputy President requested that even those officers whose terms were ending they be given an extension of contract, and the Public Service Commission, in their letter---"
