    "content": "As a citizen of this country, I am concerned that within a period of four years, our national Budget has grown from slightly over Kshs900 billion to Kshs1.6 trillion today. I am concerned because, with the discovery of strategic natural resources, namely, oil, coal and natural gas and other minerals, we are likely to escalate expenditure. I find this Budget quite unsustainable. We owe it to the future generations of this country to spend and live within our means. Most of the countries that are so-called “developed” are actually facing a lot of challenges because of borrowing a lot from the future. While a Development Expenditure of 43 per cent is commendable, in my opinion, it should be the other way round. This country should be spending about 60 per cent of her Budget on development."
