"content": "(iii) What immediate action the Government is taking to secure the release of the officials, crew and the aircraft for immediate return to Kenya. I wish to inform the House that the Kenya High Commission in Nigeria confirmed that the Kenyan chartered aircraft Reg.No.5YSAX carrying Kenyan officials, the crew of the aircraft and several deportees arrived in Lagos on 5th June, 2013. The aircraft had a clearing to land under Ref.No.A078556 dated 3rd June, 2013 as well as clearance to depart which was granted by the Nigerian authorities. The aircraft was also received by the Nigerian authorities. However, complications arose when the Nigerian authorities observed that three of the deportees had travelled vide emergency travel documents. They cited the International Transport Association rules as well as the Nigerian rule as the basis of their concern and insisted that the deportees must travel back to Kenya and obtain proper documentation. As a result, the chartered aircraft was accordingly grounded at the Murtala Muhammed Airport. Police officers from the Special Crime Prevention Unit (SCPU) conducted an operation on known drug traffickers among them three Nigerian nationals: one Antony Chinedu, Christopher Nalaleu and Adebiyu Olawasu."
