Deputy Speaker, the Ethics and Antic-Corruption Commission (EACC) needs to be given more powers to enable it prosecute corruption cases because carrying out investigations alone is not enough. The Commission investigates cases but when they forward them to the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions, they are diluted. You find that by the time the cases get to court, they are diluted. By that time, corruption will have built up and developed very strong defence. As we know, the corrupt are not ordinary people. They are mighty people with a lot of money. So, they hire the most expensive lawyers on the land."
