"content": "more generators. More people have come into the industry to generate power. We have new players in the geothermal power. We have independent power producers. We have wind power generators. We know there is a project which is on-going in Turkana by Turkana Power. We know there are others who are generating and using solar power. So, we have seen quite some improvement with the liberalization of power generation. What we should ask and urge the Government to do is to have incentives and encourage more people to come and invest in our power generating industry, so that we can have more power for our industries. That way, when we get to our Vision 2030, we do not have to import power from Uganda and Ethiopia. On the part of distribution, I agree with the Mover of this Motion, hon. Bowen, that this may be liberalised so that we have more players in the industry. This will encourage competition and hopefully the prices will go down. I remember when I owned my first mobile phone many years ago. I spent so much money just to have it because there was only one player in that industry. Today, if you want to own a mobile phone, with only Kshs3,000, you will be able to get one."
