Research has been done and there are quite a number of papers to show that if it is consumed in the right manner â and if you do not over-indulge in it - it cannot affect your libido. Again, as people demonize the chewing of miraa, many great men and women have come from Mbeere and even Meru. So, why would you say that miraa affects those people? I support this Motion. In particular, I urge this House to pass the Motion so that an ad hoc Committee is formed to regulate that industry. I must also warn that the Government is looking into ways and means of raising taxes. Once the industry is regulated, it will go a long way in supporting the Government in its effort to raise taxes. I beg to support the Motion."
