"content": "Again, I am saying that the five dams upstream assist in regulating the flow of water going downstream the Tana River. Those who come from Central Province will agree with me that the five dams are upstream. However, there are three other rivers that cause problems. They are in the northern part of Mount Kenya and the Nyambene Hills. Those who come from Embu and Meru know this. There are three very big rivers. After Kiambere, River Tana is joined by three other rivers which have a lot of water during the rainy season. The rivers emanate from Mount Kenya which is a catchment area and Nyambene region. We have Mutonga, Maara and Kathita rivers. The hon. Members who come from these areas know these rivers. These rivers are the ones which cause more problems downstream. Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, those who come from there know those rivers. They cause more problems downstream. I want to dispel the notion that water is released into Tana River by KenGen. I am not a shareholder at KenGen or TARDA, I just want to put the facts as they are. They have the mandate to address the social and economic benefits of the people living downstream. I know that when there is excess water--- I am going to bring an amendment to the effect that there are three other rivers that cause this problem."
