Pursuant to Standing Order No.44(2)(c), I wish to request a Statement from the Chairperson of the Committee on Delegated Legislation regarding the degazettment of Government land. The Government reacquired some land in the former Rift Valley Province from a private developer and allocated it to members of the Cholim Cooperative Society. The Kenya Forest Service (KFS) later evicted these people from the land, claiming to have gazetted it as part of the Mount Elgon Forest for afforestation. Hon. Speaker, Sir, the Chairperson of the Committee should inquire into and report to this House on:"
