Speaker, there is an issue of national importance that I think should be addressed as soon as possible by the Chairperson of the Departmental Committee on Education, Research and Technology whom I am seated next to and when she tried to respond to me, she did not convince me. Hon. Speaker, yesterday we got information that the teachers’ strike was called off. However, before that there was a directive by the Cabinet Secretary for Education that all public schools be closed. I have been getting a lot of inquiries from my constituents. They want to know what the status is in as far as matters of education are concerned. Up to now, we have not received any information as to whether the schools remain closed or they are opened. It has already been declared that the teachers’ strike is off. Allow me, hon. Speaker, to get a response."
