As concerns hardship allowance to teachers, Tharaka Division in the larger Tharaka Nithi Couty was among the areas designated through Legal Notice No.534 of 1997, and teachers in the area are paid hardship allowance. I wish to confirm that Chuka/Igambangâombe Division in Meru South District, which is in Tharaka Nithi County, is not a hardship designated area as per Gazette Notice 534 of 1997. Therefore, it does not qualify for payment of hardship allowance to the teachers in the division."
