    "content": "Thank you, hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker. I rise to support the Bill. The initial intention of the Bill was to realize revenue that would be ploughed back to support the poor through service delivery. However, I am pleased that the consultations with stakeholders have borne results by having most of the basic necessities exempted. Most fundamentally is the need to put checks and balances at the revenue collection points. I believe that corruption and fraud are the order of the day at these points. This is where the Government should focus its attention. It defeats our very purpose of levying taxes on these products. On a different note, I stand here today with a bit of stress because of what the people of Turkana are undergoing right now. As we talk, there is fighting going on in Lake Turkana. This is because the Merille from Ethiopia ambushed Turkana fishermen from the centres of Lowareng, Todonyang---"
