    "content": "Thank you, Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, for giving me a chance to contribute to this very important Motion. I do not know how accurate the statistics quoted in the Motion are, but presuming that they are accurate, it would mean that our country is losing sight of a very important industry which, over the years, I think the economy has ignored. This looks like it dates back to the colonial days when some areas of this country were designated as being high potential areas while others were designated low potential areas. After Independence, I think we just swallowed the whole agenda of the colonialists as it was from the beginning and we went on. We forgot our brothers in the Arid and Semi-Arid Lands (ASALs). If it is true, in fact, that over 80 per cent of our livestock is actually in those areas, then a mistake has been made in those areas and we need to correct it. We have funds for crops like coffee, cotton, tea and this or that, but we do not have one for livestock!"
