"content": "Thank you very much hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker. I stand to support that amendment that has been proposed by the hon. Member. We know that there is what we call the human-wildlife conflict; I am certain that the entire amendment that has been proposed will take care of that conflict. I especially refer again to my small constituency, Mbeere North. We have a lot of crocodiles chasing around our women as they fetch water. They chase away young children. I am certain that whatever amount they get paid under the current Act is actually an insult to the bereaved families and the injured persons. Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, you are a legal practitioner of many years standing. We know that in other jurisdictions, like the motor vehicle industry, you can even get about Kshs3 million as compensation for a loss of life. You can even get about Kshs300,000 as compensation for amputation of a hand or even a finger. So, why should the Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) pay for people who die Kshs50,000 or Kshs100,000? I am in support of this Motion for the bereaved families or the injured persons to get their due compensation."
