    "content": "Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, I would like to respond to a Statement which was requested by Sen. (Dr.) Zani. I hope she is in the House. The Statement was with regard to escalation of sexual offences against minors, specifically incest and defilement. She wanted, in particular, the number of cases reported to the police in the last two years and their status, operational strategies being put in place to control such incidences and a clarification on whether the current laws including the Sexual Offences Act (2006) are adequate in addressing the same. She also sought information on whether the Government was considering tabling amendments to the above Act to enhance penalties. I wish to state as follows. In the last two years, the country has witnessed a number of sexual offences against minors. I, hereby, table a detailed report on the type, number and status of these cases in each county.
