"content": "Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, I stand to thank my colleague and the Government for the response that has been given. However, there are some aspects that did not come out clearly, especially with regard to the first medium term plan which was supposed to be for five years and which ended last year. In Vision 2030, Industrialisation was supposed to be the key driver if we were to move from a Third World Country to a Middle Income Economy by 2030. Some key development agendas were supposed to have been done. For example, agro-based industries were supposed to be set up in Kisumu, Eldoret and Nakuru within the first five years. I did not hear that from the report. On the contrary, some industries have closed in Eldoret, for example, Corn Products Kenya Limited (CPC) which was a very huge employer and consumer of farm products. It no longer works. Some products are not also used, for example, Rupa in Eldoret among others. The situation is the same in Nakuru. There was supposed to be a huge retail building in Kiambu--- The electronic version of the Senate Hansard Report is for information purposes only.
