There are some people who are a little concerned that, that is going to balkanize the country. I think that is a fallacy. I went to a national school where I enjoyed myself. We were able to design a system that brought everybody together. When we say that we should scrap the 8-4-4 system, we are not saying that we are not going to examine students. Every term, for the three terms in a year, you get reports from the teachers showing the progress of your child. There is absolutely nothing to stop the children from being examined continuously, until they reach Form IV. This is the foundation of how we are going to make the new Kenya. We will need the human resources developed to the point where they can manage the new technology. You are not going to tell us that at Standard VIII, you have managed to achieve that level of understanding."
