    "content": "(ii) Rice farming; and, (iii) Ownership of land in Mwea Irrigation Scheme. Mr. Speaker, Sir, we wrote to all the three Ministries concerned with water, land and agriculture. It is our observation that the issues which have been raised in Mwea may not be addressed fully without visiting Mwea Irrigation Scheme because it seems to be more than just the questions put by the farmers. To this end, we have some written clarification from the Ministry of Lands, but the Chair of our Committee does not think this is adequate enough to address issues raised by farmers. Land ownership alone would not completely solve their problems. I had an occasion to discuss with the petitioner, the Senator for Kirinyaga, and we agreed that we need to visit Mwea Irrigation Scheme so that we can expand these issues. We do not just want to end up with a report from the Ministry tabled and the farmers might not get the results that this House is supposed to give them. I do not know whether I can only table the papers or if we get directions, we can proceed as requested by the Senator to visit the problem area. I have part of the report here."
