If a foreigner wants to buy freehold land, at what point is the land changed to become leasehold in the sale agreement? Is it the owner who converts the land before the sale to leasehold or it is at the point of payment of stamp duty that the title is changed into the name of the foreigner and reverts to leasehold? This is something that is causing confusion in many land dealings."
