"content": "Thank you, Mr. Speaker, Sir. I am responding to Sen. Wamatangi’s Statement on the pollution of Athi, Galana and Sabaki Rivers. The Fourteen Falls pollution incident was reported to the Kiambu County Director of Environment on 24th of September, 2013. The Authority, together with the Water Resources Management Authority (WARMA) carried out an inspection on 26th September, 2013, to find out the source of the pollution. The team visited Dandora Sewerage Water Works at Ruai, where it was noted there was very little effluent and some of the maturation points were drying up, which is an indicator that there was a leakage of the sewerage. On questioning the sewerage work attendants, they disclosed that the main trunk sewer that delivers sewage from Nairobi Central Business District (CBD), western and northern regions of Nairobi broke down in April, 2013, at Njiru and had not been attended to."
