What we are challenging here is the statement he made that Kikuyus used homemade guns to fight for Independence. The correct position is that Kenyans fought for Independence. In Kapenguria, there were six Kenyans who were not drawn from one community. We all fought for the Independence of this country. For the purpose of the HANSARD, it is important for Sen. G.G. Kariuki to state that Kenyans fought for Independence and not to bring up the issue of a certain community."
