"content": "Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir, the Media Council being proposed is not a dispute settlement mechanism. The roles there are very clear as indicated in Clause 6. That is why saying that the Media Council will be a body that will facilitate resolution of disputes between the Government and the media and between the public and the media and intermediary whereas in the same Bill, we are proposing to have a Complaints Commission is illogical. If we are proposing that there will be dispute mechanism in the Bill, then let all the disputes be settled within that framework and not take the disputes again to the Media Council."
