Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir, the oversight role of this House and appointing people to various statutory boards is an area that we think that- -- If amendments to it are brought to this Floor, we will oppose them. This House has to play an oversight role over appointments, and we cannot drop it. We should canvass, among ourselves, and say that this is an area that we think should not be done away with. We must reach a stage where we pass laws for posterity. We should be able to discuss among ourselves as legislators and look at laws, even in these amendments, and say that this is good and this is not good, but we need to avoid activism when one argues a point that he thinks is meant to protect certain interests. We are here to debate and make laws for this country and for posterity."
