"content": "very brilliant friend of mine who has articulated the most important areas which we need to look into. So, we wanted to know whether the recommendations made on historical injustices are in the Report. So, that is why it is very important that this Report should come to this House. Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, when you look at the issue of land, and you know I speak for the larger majority, the real owners of this country – the Maa people – we want to know whether the Report is recommending benefits for the people whose land has been taken illegally. We want to know what compensation will be given to the people who lost their lives. So, this is very important that this Report should come to this House. There are very many issues and if you allow this Report just to go like this Parliament is a rubber stamp or conveyor belt, as one of my colleagues has said, then what is the point of this House to this country? Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, we must be bold enough. We must have value judgment to make this country a better place for our citizens and if this Report is not going to measure up to that requirement then we may have to make a decision. I heard some of my colleagues saying the substance of the Report may not be touched. Yes, if the Report is for the benefit of this country but if the Report is not for the benefit of this country, this House has by law a right to amend it so that this country can heal and move forward."
