Temporary Deputy Chairman, I beg to move:- THAT, Clause 6(1) be amended by inserting the following new paragraph immediately after paragraph (e)— “(ea) set standards, in consultation with the relevant training institutions, for professional education and training of journalists”. The essence of this is to make sure that the Media Council will be able to set standards in consultation with the relevant training institutions for professional education and training of journalists. This is something that we actually engaged the Media Council in and they are actually the ones who came up with this amendment. I think the Committee had no issue with it."
