"content": "Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, there are two serious things to confirm here. The Assistant Minister admitted, and let me quote him in this answer:- âConcern has also been raised about the level of commitment of these teachers given that they have similar qualifications and offer the same services with the other teachers, yet their remuneration is below that of other teachers.â The Ministry is admitting that the status of these teachers is impacting negatively on their performance. It is also clear that the Government is going on to employ newcomers and ignoring those who are already on contract. Could he give a very unequivocal assurance that whatever amount of money the Government avails to the Ministry for purposes of recruitment, utmost priority will be given to absorption of these contract teachers?"
